One popular hang-out among Javanese is Wedangan, still commonly done by people in Solo and Jogja until today. It can be perhaps paralleled to tea-drinking ceremonies in England or Japan. Only during wedangan, the atmosphere is far more relaxing. Typically a group of families or friends gathered and sat on weaved-bamboo mats on the street and enjoyed a few cups of traditional drinks. Popular among the choices are hot sweet thick tea, local coffee, serbat jahe (ginger), and ronde. Ronde is a traditional drink composed of a ginger broth, with bread croutons, pine fruits, grilled peanuts, and rice dumplings.
